TL;DR

Both CardLuma and CardZen scan cards, publish to eBay, and track profit. CardLuma has lower entry prices and more included scans at Pro, plus store-category rules, multi-variation listings, and Whatnot CSV export. CardZen can suggest listing prices from your purchase cost and target return after estimated fees and shipping. Test a small batch before moving your inventory.

If you want a CardLuma alternative, compare the work you do before and after a listing goes live. CardLuma already scans cards, publishes to eBay, and tracks profit. CardZen connects those steps with purchase records and automatic cost-based price suggestions. That is worth testing if you price cards against a target return on what you paid.

We make CardZen. This comparison checks CardLuma's published capabilities against CardZen's current app code. It is not a hands-on accuracy or speed test of CardLuma.

Quick answer

Stay on CardLuma if you depend on its store-category rules, pick-your-card variation listings, or Whatnot CSV export. Its entry plans also cost less for the included scans.

Try CardZen if you want purchase-linked card costs to feed suggested listing prices, with settings for a target return and minimum profit after estimated fees and shipping. Check the suggestions with a small batch first. Both apps have inventory and profit tracking.

What CardLuma does well

CardLuma's direct eBay listing documentation describes publishing a prepared batch with titles, photos, conditions, shipping policies, store categories, and Best Offer settings. The feature directory lists 20-plus auto-filled item specifics, title templates, shipping-policy rules, and sold comps alongside active listings.

The directory also lists an eBay CSV export compatible with File Exchange for sellers who use bulk file uploads.

Its multi-variation workflow lets buyers choose cards from one listing. Sellers can add cards after publication and update quantities. The feature directory notes that the eBay category must support variations. Its scheduled listings let you set a date, time, and interval between publications.

CardLuma also has profit tracking. It describes acquisition costs, final value fees, advertising fees, outbound shipping, and refunds, with views by card, order, or period and a CSV export.

For live sellers, the Whatnot workflow exports inventory to a CSV that you import into Whatnot. CardLuma says this is not a direct API connection or automatic Whatnot listing sync.

CardLuma lists automated pricing rules as coming soon.

CardLuma pricing compared with CardZen

The CardLuma pricing page lists these monthly plans:

CardLuma planMonthly priceIncluded scans per month
Starter$101,000
Pro$203,500
Elite$387,500
Ultra$7115,000
Premier$9925,000

All plans include the scan-to-listing workflow and unlimited listings, with add-on scan packs available on every paid plan. Pro and higher plans add consignor tracking. Monthly scans reset each billing cycle. Add-on scans remain available while the subscription is active. CardLuma advertises a trial of 14 days or 25 cards, whichever comes first, with Pro features included and no credit card required.

The current CardZen plans are:

CardZen planMonthly priceIncluded CardSense scans
Free trial$015 scans or 14 days, whichever comes first
Starter$171,000 per month
Pro$302,500 per month

CardZen's trial is one-time and requires no credit card. Both paid plans include the core app features. Pro also offers scan top-up packs.

These are each vendor's published scan allowances. We have not tested whether retakes or failed scans consume the allowance in the same way.

CardLuma Starter costs $7 less per month for the same included scan count. CardLuma Pro costs $10 less and includes 1,000 more scans than CardZen Pro. If scans per dollar decide the purchase, these CardLuma plans are the better value.

Where CardZen fits

Capture cards and keep using the same record

CardZen's CardSense reads details from card photos. You can use camera capture or upload photos, review the extracted details, and keep the cards in inventory and batches. Check the player, set, parallel, and card number before you list.

CardLuma also accepts batch image uploads and has phone image uploads through a QR code. Phone photos are not exclusive to CardZen. Compare how each app handles your actual photos rather than assuming that one requires a desktop scanner.

Link purchases to the cards you sell

In CardZen, linking a purchase to cards gives them a cost basis, the amount you have invested in them. The same card can connect to an eBay listing and a sale. Sales tracking combines known card costs with sale proceeds and fees.

For eBay-linked sales, CardZen imports order and fee data. Some fees or shipping-label costs can arrive later. A sale with missing costs is not a verified profit figure, so check that the purchase link and expenses are complete before relying on the result.

Both apps record acquisition costs and profit.

Set cost-based suggested prices

CardZen's Auto-price cards from cost setting uses your target return on cost and minimum profit to suggest prices for unpriced cards. The calculation includes estimated eBay fees and shipping. You can override the suggestion or turn automatic pricing off.

These suggestions use your costs and settings. They do not use sold comps to estimate what a buyer will pay. Review the suggested price against recent sales before publishing. CardLuma's feature directory lists its automated pricing rules as coming soon, so this is a specific difference to test during the trials.

CardZen also has a comp research panel in the card editor. That panel is separate from the automatic cost-based pricing setting.

Reuse listing settings

CardZen lists selected cards directly to eBay using the card data and your saved settings. It has listing defaults, Best Offer thresholds, shipping policies selected by price, and scheduled or staggered publishing. Both apps support scheduling and offer settings. CardZen can also send a store category set on an individual card, but does not have CardLuma's rule-based store-category automation.

CardZen does not offer CardLuma's pick-your-card variation workflow or a Whatnot-ready export. CardZen's Cards CSV export is an inventory file, not an eBay Seller Hub upload template. Our bulk listing CSV guide explains the separate Seller Hub process.

Check spreadsheet imports before moving everything

CardZen has a cost-file import with column mapping and inventory CSV export. That does not mean an arbitrary CardLuma export will move every image, listing ID, purchase link, and fee record automatically. Test a sample and compare the imported fields before committing to a move.

Our inventory spreadsheet guide helps you decide which fields to preserve.

Who should stay on CardLuma

Keep CardLuma if its workflow already meets your needs, especially when:

  • You use store-category automation or multi-variation listings regularly.
  • You prepare Whatnot inventory through its CSV export.
  • You use its eBay-compatible CSV export for bulk uploads.
  • Its included scan volume covers your work at a lower price.
  • You use its consignor tracking or its support for sports, trading card games, and non-sports cards.

CardLuma's financial records also deserve a trial before you assume you need a second app for profit tracking.

Who should try CardZen instead

Try CardZen if you want suggested asking prices based on your card costs, target return, and minimum profit. Use a small group of cards that represents what you sell, including a parallel or a graded card if those are part of your inventory.

Follow the cards through capture, purchase linking, and listing preparation. Check whether the cost-based suggestions account for your shipping settings and whether your saved defaults remove repeat entry. Compare the result with the same work in CardLuma.

Before you move your inventory

  1. Export your records from the current app and keep an untouched copy. Include SKUs, costs, and eBay item IDs where available.
  2. Test the new app's import with a small sample. Compare card details and costs, then inspect the physical cards against their SKUs.
  3. Choose one app to publish or revise each eBay listing. Do not publish a card again because its record was imported.
  4. Verify how existing live listings link to inventory before enabling another app's sync. A CSV import alone does not establish that connection.
  5. Compare the first synced sales with Seller Hub. Resolve missing costs and fees before trusting profit totals.

We have not tested an end-to-end CardLuma-to-CardZen migration. Running both on the same eBay account requires care, and this guide does not promise automatic reconciliation between them.

For a check before you subscribe, use the eBay sports card profit calculator guide with your own costs. To test CardZen's workflow, start the free trial. It includes 15 CardSense scans or 14 days, whichever comes first, with no credit card required.

Frequently asked questions

Is CardZen a full replacement for CardLuma?
Not for every seller. Both apps support scanning, inventory, direct eBay listing, sales tracking, scheduling, staggered publishing, and Best Offer settings. CardZen does not offer CardLuma's pick-your-card multi-variation workflow or Whatnot-ready CSV export. Test the listing settings you rely on before switching.
Does CardLuma track profit after eBay fees?
Yes. CardLuma describes profit tracking by card, order, and period, with acquisition cost, eBay fees, shipping, and refunds. Profit tracking alone is not a reason to switch to CardZen.
Does CardLuma integrate directly with Whatnot?
No. CardLuma's documented Whatnot workflow is a CSV export that you import into Whatnot. Its Whatnot page says there is no direct API integration or automated listing sync.
Which costs less, CardLuma or CardZen?
At the monthly prices checked on October 27, 2026, CardLuma Starter is $10 for 1,000 scans and Pro is $20 for 3,500. CardZen Starter is $17 for 1,000 scans and Pro is $30 for 2,500. CardLuma costs less for these included scan allowances.
How do the free trials compare?
CardLuma advertises 14 days or 25 cards, whichever comes first, with Pro features included. CardZen's one-time trial ends after 15 CardSense scans or 14 days, whichever comes first. Neither requires a credit card to start. Neither trial is a permanent free plan.
