Card Dealer Pro alternative: CardZen vs CDP in 2026
Compare CardZen and Card Dealer Pro on monthly prices, phone capture, eBay listings, and cost tracking. See when to try CardZen and when to keep using CDP.
Try CardZen if you want to capture cards, link purchase costs, list on eBay, and review sales profit in one workflow. Keep Card Dealer Pro if its scanner software or multi-marketplace listings already fit your business. Both accept phone photos and support cost tracking. CDP starts at $9 per month, below CardZen's $17 Starter plan.
A Card Dealer Pro alternative is worth testing when your current listing or inventory workflow costs you time. CardZen is one option for sports card sellers who want to capture cards, record purchase costs, and manage eBay listings and sales together.
Card Dealer Pro accepts phone photos, has cost basis fields, and shows order earnings when marketplace data is available. You do not need to leave CDP just to use your phone or see selling fees.
This guide compares the two products for an eBay seller deciding whether to switch. We make CardZen. The CDP claims below link to its own product and help pages.

Quick answer
| Your main need | Where to start |
|---|---|
| Keep an established autofeed or flatbed scanner workflow | Card Dealer Pro and its desktop scanner app |
| Publish across eBay, CollX, Whatnot, and Shopify | CDP All-Star at $59 per month for all four marketplaces |
| Capture cards, link purchases, list on eBay, and review sales profit together | Try CardZen on a small sample of your own cards |
| Pay the lowest entry subscription price of these two tools | CDP Prospect at $9 per month |
What Card Dealer Pro does well
CDP has dedicated software for sellers who use desktop scanners. Its Trading Card Scanner app runs on Mac and Windows and supports autofeed and flatbed scanning. Switch only if the time saved outweighs the time spent moving inventory.
CDP also supports cross-listing to eBay, CollX, Whatnot, and Shopify. Its inventory sync documentation describes linked listings and automatic delisting on other connected channels when available quantity reaches zero. CDP says exporting a CSV and uploading it to a marketplace does not establish inventory sync.
CDP's bookkeeping guide documents cost basis fields. Its Orders guide describes fees, shipping, tax, and net earnings when available. Recent orders can have missing financial details until the marketplace supplies them.
Monthly pricing and trial limits
CDP's published pricing lists these monthly plans:
| CDP plan | Monthly subscription | Monthly AI credits | Marketplace access |
|---|---|---|---|
| Prospect | $9 | 500 | CollX plus one marketplace |
| Majors | $19 | 1,100 | CollX plus two marketplaces |
| All-Star | $59 | 5,000 | CollX plus three marketplaces |
CDP advertises a seven-day Prospect trial. Its FAQ says the paid plan starts automatically after the trial unless you cancel.
CardZen's plans and trial use monthly CardSense scan allowances:
| CardZen plan | Monthly subscription | Included CardSense scans |
|---|---|---|
| Free trial | $0 | 15 one-time scans or 14 days, whichever comes first |
| Starter | $17 | 1,000 per month |
| Pro | $30 | 2,500 per month |
The CardZen trial needs no credit card. Both paid plans include the capture, inventory, eBay listing, and profit tools described here. Pro has a larger monthly scan allowance, and the trial's scans do not refresh.
CDP AI credits and CardZen scans are different billing units. The counts alone do not establish which product processes more cards for your money. Test the actions you use and check what consumes each allowance. Marketplace selling fees are separate from these subscriptions.
CDP is cheaper at entry. Selling only on eBay does not automatically make CardZen the cheaper choice.
CardZen vs Card Dealer Pro
| Capability | Card Dealer Pro | CardZen |
|---|---|---|
| Capture | Scanner images, phone photos, or certificate lookup | Camera capture or photo upload, with CardSense card recognition |
| Listing destinations | eBay, CollX, Whatnot, and Shopify, subject to plan | Direct eBay listing |
| Costs | Cost basis fields | Link cards to purchases for cost basis |
| Sales records | Orders and marketplace financial details when available | eBay sales sync and profit based on recorded costs and available fee data |
| Main reason to evaluate | Scanner software and listings across several marketplaces | A connected capture, purchase, eBay listing, and sales workflow |
The CDP capture options and plan access come from its product and pricing page. Its financial capabilities come from the help guides linked above. CardZen is not a replacement for CDP's connections to CollX, Whatnot, or Shopify.
Try your actual capture workflow
In CardZen, you can capture cards with a camera or upload photos, review the CardSense results, and keep the cards in inventory. You can then select cards to list on eBay using their saved details and your listing defaults. The bulk listing guide explains how direct listing differs from a Seller Hub CSV upload.
Test cards that usually need corrections, such as numbered parallels and similar-looking inserts. Compare both products on the same cards, including the details you have to fix and the time you spend reviewing them.
Compare profit records, including missing costs
CardZen links cards to purchases and syncs eBay sales. Its sales workflow calculates profit using the recorded cost basis and available sale, fee, and shipping data. Connecting eBay does not tell CardZen what you originally paid for a card. Link or enter that cost, and check for missing financial data before relying on a profit figure. Importing eBay financial details requires the appropriate eBay account permissions.
For example, suppose a buyer pays $100 for the card and shipping combined, excluding sales tax. Marketplace fees are $14, the shipping label costs $5, and your card cost is $40. The remaining profit is $41. Those are illustrative amounts, not a quoted eBay fee rate or a sample CardZen result. If you omit the $40 card cost, the apparent profit rises to $81. CardZen's sales view leaves profit unknown until costs and fees are known.
The eBay profit calculator guide explains the inputs, and the free profit calculator lets you try your own numbers. Compare the same completed sales in both products before deciding that one gives you better records.
Who should stay on Card Dealer Pro
Keep CDP if its scanner app fits your hardware, or if you regularly publish the same inventory across its supported marketplaces. Its linked listings and auto-delisting can be a reason to stay.
Stay if Prospect covers your work at $9 per month and you can already track the costs and earnings you need. A phone workflow or an interest in profit tracking alone does not justify moving a working inventory system.
Who should try CardZen
Try CardZen if eBay is your main listing destination and you want to evaluate the full process with your own cards. Capture a sample, review the details, link purchase costs, and inspect how cards connect to listings and sales.
Compare the time you spend correcting capture results. For sold cards, check that each card links to its purchase and that the recorded costs explain its profit. The inventory app overview describes CardZen's inventory workflow. The broader inventory app comparison covers other options.
Test a switch before moving inventory
- Save an export of your current inventory and keep your original photos. CDP's product FAQ confirms CSV export, but an export does not guarantee a complete transfer into another product.
- Test CardZen with a separate sample of new cards. Do not republish cards that already have active listings during the test.
- Confirm how your existing records would move before cancelling CDP. CardZen's spreadsheet import can match existing cards or create card records awaiting photos. It can record purchase costs and sales. It does not transfer photos or live marketplace listings.
- Use one tool to manage each live listing. Check the card's SKU, listing status, and cost before moving it. Keep CDP responsible for any inventory you still cross-list through CDP.
- Compare a few completed sales with eBay's order and financial records. Check fees, label costs, purchase costs, and returns before trusting the totals.
Start with CardZen's free trial, which ends after 15 CardSense scans or 14 days, whichever comes first. Use the sample to decide whether the workflow is worth changing before you move your full inventory.
